Thank you for Walking With Us – Together, we raised over $70,500!

On September 21st, over 450 amazing people came together for our Walk With Us event — and together, we’ve raised over $70,500 in support of the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society!

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, and supported – and special thank you to our sponsors Fountain Tire Manitoba!

Your energy, kindness, and generosity help us continue to empower individuals with Down syndrome and their families across Manitoba.

Let’s keep walking together — today, tomorrow, and always.

Enjoy the highlights and relive the moments that brought our MDSS community together!

Singing Inclusion

Ken Hodges and his band Play It Again led us in a powerful singalong of his song “Brothers & Sisters.”

It was a beautiful moment of community, connection, and shared voices. Enjoy the performance and sing along with us!

Brothers & Sisters

Words & Music by: Ken Hodges & Mike MacKenzie

Verse 1

When you see me on the street and I wave and say hello

A friendly smile is all I need then it’s on my way I’ll go

Too often people turn away or pretend that they don’t hear

Cause the things which we don’t understand are the things which we most fear

Verse 2

Look with more than just your eyes then you will discover

Like the man said you can’t judge a book by just it’s cover

Close your eyes and look at me, let your heart be your guide

Open up the pages see me beautiful inside

Chorus

On the outside we are different deep inside we’re all the same

We are brothers, we are sisters, though we all have different names.

All that I am asking is the same you’d ask of me

Treat me with respect and let me live with dignity

Bridge

If you take the time to understand somebody else

You will find you might learn more about yourself

Verse 3

Each challenge that life offers me I face with a smile

I get to where I’m going, though I walk that extra mile

Sometimes we will struggle, and we’ll need a helping hand

So if you let me face the world, I’ll help you understand

Chorus

On the outside we are different deep inside we’re all the same

We are brothers, we are sisters, though we all have different names.

All that I am asking is the same you’d ask of me

Treat me with respect and let me live with dignity
